Mark Beehre

Mark is a Wellington-based photographer and oral historian. His work encompasses a variety of subject matter from landscape and architecture to portraiture, but he is particularly concerned with documenting the lives of gay men.

Mark is the author of Men Alone - Men Together, a major project combining documentary photograph and oral history to record the lives of 45 gay men and recount how their journeys have, for the moment, led them towards or away from relationship with another. His most recently exhibited body of work, Men Undressed, is concerned with themes of identity and visibility of the male body. An audio interview with Mark can be heard here.
