Teachers sue over classroom sex claim

Fri 25 Feb 2011 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Two foreign language teachers are suing the city of New York for $2 million after they were fired over allegations they had sex in a classroom during a school talent show. The Advocate reports a two-page summons filed in Manhattan supreme court calls Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro victims of "wrongful termination, libel and slander." The woman were sacked by the Department of Education after a janitor claims he saw them in a classroom, with Mauro naked and kneeling between a topless Brito's legs. The women claim Mauro was simply giving the diabetic Brito "candy" to treat her blood sugar level. "They've had to deal with these false allegations of engaging in lesbian sex," said their lawyer, Michael Valentine. "It's been painful." Valentine says the janitor's version of events changed when he was put on the stand. "He admitted in his hearing testimony that he only saw one person, but speculated there were two women in there having sex," Valentine says. "When does a fish become a whale?"
