Carmen Rupe back in Sydney hospital

Thu 24 Feb 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Carmen Rupe is back in St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, where she had surgery last night. Close friend "Tranny Granny" Jacquie Grant says she understands that a recently inserted artificial hip joint became disconnected while Carmen was convalescing in a nursing home. Long-time friend Robin Waerea, who is acting as her guardian, says she is now back in her ward recovering and is doing ok. The trans-Tasman trans Goddess was hospitalised last month, when she broke her hip in a fall in her home. Waerea is seeking a report from Rupe's doctor and medical staff. "Carmen has lost a lot of weight," he says."But we are now working with the dietician to bring it under control." Waerea says Carmen, as always, sends her love to all her fans, family and friends. She also thanks those who have sent get well cards and flowers.
