No call for NZAF boss meet and greet outside Ak

Sun 6 Feb 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

Shaun Robinson A public meet and greet function, for which Aucklanders responded to an open invitation to meet with the new NZ AIDS Foundation Executive Director, is not currently planned for other centres. Two weeks into his new job Shaun Robinson is feeling his way into the high profile position by meeting with staff and glbt community groups. "Around 40 people turned up" to the Auckland public meet and greet, "including representatives from GABA, the Auckland Sexual Health Service, the NZAF African Advisory Group, the Mental Health Foundation, and NZAF members," says the Foundation. The new boss spoke with guests on a one-to-one basis, "covering a number of issues in a relaxed environment," comments Robinson. "We talked about people’s opinions of what was influencing the situation around HIV/AIDS in New Zealand, the activities of the NZAF and people’s views on my appointment. The session was an opportunity for me to introduce myself to NZAF members and stakeholders, and members of the communities we serve." “My first few weeks with the NZAF include a number of meetings with staff, community groups, leaders and key stakeholders from across the country," says Robinson. Last week he spent time in Wellington meeting NZAF staff, members and community groups and next week he will visit Christchurch doing the same. "We’ve had no call from the public to hold any further public meetings so at this point there are no plans for sessions in Christchurch and Wellington. However, if there is interest to have such meetings, I am more than happy to arrange them,” Robinson says. You can discuss this New Zealand gay community news story in the GayNZ.com Forum
