Turtle Cove closed and silent since cyclone strike

Concerns are emerging regarding the South Pacific's premier glbt vacation resort after Cyclone Yasi tore through tropical Queensland, leaving the resort closed until further notice. Turtle Cove Resort, popular with NZ glbt holidaymakers, is located on a beachfront property just north of Cairns in an area which took a severe pounding from the devastating category 5 cyclone. Phone calls to the resort have gone unanswered since the cyclone hit and as of this morning their email service remains on auto reply, with the brief message from General Manager Gavin Keegan stating that "Due to Cyclone Yasi, Turtle Cove Resort will be closed until further notice." On the resort's Facebook page people from around the world including New Zealand have been expressing their concern. "Hope all the cassowaries, kangaroos, koalas, and parrots are OK in what's left of the rainforests of Far-North Queensland - and of course the people too" and "Sending good thoughts your way from the snow-bound East Coast of the US. Take care!" There have been no postings from staff or management. A GayNZ.com Daily News attempt to make contact by requesting access to their closed Facebook page has not drawn any response so far. It appears there has been no public communication of any kind from the resort since early Wednesday morning Australian time.
