UK pair charged with promoting homophobia

Two UK men have been charged with stirring up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation. In the first such prosecution since laws outlawing homophobia came into force in March 2010. Razwan Javed, 30, and Kabir Ahmed, 27, will appear before magistrates tomorrow. The pair handed out a leaflet titled The Death Penalty? outside a Derby mosque last July. The leaflets were also distributed through letterboxes in the city. Ahmed and Javed have been charged with distributing threatening written material intending to stir up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.
