Talent sought for Out in the Square

Fri 21 Jan 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Performers of all kinds are being sought for Wellington's annual gay and lesbian fair. Out in the Square will be held on Saturday 12 March to coincide with the AsiaPacific Outgames, when more than 1,000 GLBT sportsmen and sportswomen will be in the capital. "This year's fair will be extra special for performers," Out Wellington secretary Andy Boreham says. "It will be a chance to show off New Zealand's awesome talent to hundreds of visitors from overseas here to compete as part of the Asia Pacific Outgames." Boreham says Out Wellington is looking for "colourful, vibrant, talented, exciting" performers, from bands to solo performers to drag queens to magicians to comedians, to take to the main stage and form a part of the event's seven hour long entertainment line-up. "We don't care if you're an amateur, a pro, gay, lesbian, trans, or straight -if you feel like you'd add to Out in the Square then we want to hear from you," he says. Performers would need to be available on Saturday 12 March, and also the rain-date which is the next day.
