Bear City heading to the Garden City

Sat 8 Jan 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The organisers of Auckland's Gay Film Nights are taking their reels on the road, hosting a Christchurch screening of Bear City. The flick is set in New York's bear scene and is described as taking a cue from Sex and the City, in "following a tight-knit pack of friends experiencing comical mishaps, emotionally sweet yet lusty romantic encounters and a cast of colourful, diverse characters as they gear up for a big party weekend". The film picked up Best Screenplay and Best Actor for Stephen Guarino at Outfest 2010. Bear City will screen at the Regent on Worcester at 8pm on Sunday night, a free drink and free nibbles on arrival, as well as spot prizes. Tickets at the door are $25. The screening is a combined initiative of Number 8 Films, who have been hosting the Auckland Gay Film Nights at Galatos, and Bears Christchurch.
