File photo How sexual networks and connectivity can help researchers understand the spread of HIV will be discussed at the second instalment of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation's HIV Insights series tonight. HIV Insights is a series of public discussions on HIV and is open to anyone with an interest in the latest patterns, trends and research on HIV. Tonight's topic "six degrees of stimulation" will be led by NZAF Senior Researcher Dr Peter Saxton. "Increasingly, the concepts behind 'six degrees of separation' are informing the study of communicable infections including HIV. We'll discuss the relevance of network approaches to HIV spread, and how these can improve our understanding of both individual and community‐level risk," Saxton says. NZAF Executive Director Rachael Le Mesurier says the NZAF was pleased with how the first session developed. "There were some really interesting discussions. The next session promises some interesting commentary on the role of networks in HIV spread." HIV Insights will be at 6pm at NZAF National Office 31‐35 Hargreaves Street, St Mary's Bay, Auckland 1011. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Jason Myers, NZAF Policy Analyst, on Jason.myers@nzaf.org.nz or ring 09 300 6964.
