Cindy McCain supports NOH8 campaign

Sat 13 Nov 2010 In: International News View at Wayback

Senior Republican Senator John McCain's wife Cindy has condemned the US military ban on gays serving openly, even as her husband battles efforts to lift or ease the widely unpopular restrictions. In a new video for the NOH8 campaign, which is aimed at battling abuse of GLBT teens, she bluntly blames the policy for encouraging bullies. "Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future," she says in the video. "They can't serve our country openly." The senator and former presidential hopeful and his wife have disagreed before on gay rights, as she supports same-sex marriage and he opposes it.
