Queer kissing protest planned for Pope

Thu 4 Nov 2010 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Gays and lesbians in Spain are planning to protest the Pope's visit this weekend with a Queer Kissing Flashmob. The plan is for protesters to meet at Barcelona's Gothic cathedral and start making out for two minutes as Pope Benedict XVI steps out of the building. "His Holiness is the head of an institution which has traditionally been an enemy to sexual rights for those who practice non-reproductive sex and those who don't love in church-approved ways," reads a description of the protest. "Consequently, we have decided to stage a protest to express our discontent. Our goal is to express this disagreement from a place of passion, sensuality and love rather than from a place of violence." Over 1,000 people have so far agreed to turn up at the event.
