Mayor becomes Rainbow Wellington patron

Celia Wade-Brown New Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown has agreed to be Rainbow Wellington's patron, the third mayor in succession to do so. "The positive nature of Celia's speedy response is most encouraging, suggesting that our close relationship with Wellington City Council will continue unabated," says Rainbow Wellington secretary Tony Reed. He says Chair Tony Simpson wrote to former Mayor, and our Patron of several years, Kerry Prendergast, and received a very gracious reply: "Thank you for your letter and your kind words – they are greatly appreciated. … It has … been an honour to serve as Patron for Rainbow Wellington. Thank you again for your friendship and support over the years. I wish you and the Rainbow Wellington members all the best for the future." The group has also written to its Vice-Patron Fran Wilde, to congratulate her on her re-election as Chair of Greater Wellington Regional Council.
