Bucket shakers needed for crucial collection

Tue 26 Oct 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Volunteers are being sought to help with a major Auckland street collection for Help Out in October's closing weekend. So far around $5,500 has been raised by a small team of dedicated collectors in central Auckland gay venues over the weekends in October. GABA Charitable Trust has a goal of $25,000, with the proceeds from the appeal to be split between Body Positive, Charlotte Trust, Rainbow Youth and OUTLine, all groups which are in need of cash to ensure their survival and the funding of future projects. Major event the Urge Slave Auction this weekend is expected to boost the amount raised. A street collection will be held on Friday and Saturday in Auckland and Help Out in October organiser Glenn Sims says volunteers are needed between 8am and 6pm on each day. Help is crucial so Help Out in October can reach its goal. “If we have successful day collections we potentially will smash the target,” he says. Anyone who is confident enough to shake a bucket is asked to get behind the cause and help the GLBT community look after its own. The collection will be coordinated from K' Rd offices. If you can help please contact Glenn Sims glenn@redflame.co.nzor 021 760 159.
