Wed 13 Oct 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Kerry Prendergast Outgoing Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast is being thanked for her staunch support for the Wellington Outgames. After nine years leading the city, she has been beaten by the Green Party's Celia-Wade Brown in an incredibly close race which came down to special votes. Outgames co-chair David Hindley says Prendergast has been unwavering in her support for the event, which will be held in the capital in March. "We are enormously grateful for the help she has given and the doors she has opened. There isn't any other mayor in the country who would have done a better job. The Outgames will be stronger for the work she has done," he says. "As a green candidate, we know that Celia will also be good to work with, positive on LGBTI issues, and we look forward to working with her in the coming months."
