Sun 10 Oct 2010 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Mitcham at Beijing A larger than usual crowd is expected at the S.P. Mukherjee swimming complex tonight to see openly gay diver Matthew Mitcham compete. Mitcham, an Australian Olympic gold medal winner, is believed to have attracted hundreds of glbt Indians from Delhi and beyond to see him compete. Tickets to the session are a sell-out after a message urging glbt folk to "paint the venue rainbow" circulated last week. Mitcham, a 22-year old from Sydney, will compete in the 1m springboard, 10m platform, 3m springboard synchro and the 10m platform synchro. He is considered a good medal prospect.
