People out and about at gay venues on K' Rd have helped make a good start to the Help Out In October fundraising drive. Collectors shaking buckets gathered just over $1,000 on Friday and Saturday nights. Volunteers will be out on the street across the month, aiming to raise $25,000 to help cash-strapped community groups Body Postive, the Charlotte Museum, Rainbow Youth and OUTLine. Family Bar is planning an event to help the initiative. It will be held on Sunday 24th October, with full details soon to be revealed. Naval and Family across the road is selling special Help Out In October cocktails called Out of Passion for $12, with $2 from every sale to go to the fundraiser.
