Extras sought for Colonel's Outing

Andy Jalfon and Christopher Banks Wannabe film stars seeking their first five seconds of fame, or people who enjoy sitting in a pub, are being sought to be extras in the latest short from Number 8 Films. The makers of award-winners Teddy and Communication are looking for people to sit in Galbraith's in the Auckland suburb of Mt Eden on Sunday 17 October, to create ambience for a scene from their latest film The Colonel's Outing. The Colonel's Outing tells the story of two old war veterans who find love in a rest home, but are forced to escape for the day from the prying eyes of Matron to get some privacy. "They've had a lovely day out on the town and have decided to treat themselves to dinner," says director Christopher Banks. "Unfortunately, things are about to turn sour. You know those air crash programmes on TV that horrify you but you can't stop looking at? This is one of those scenes, and we're offering people a ringside seat." The Colonel's Outing is being produced through Number 8 Films, a charitable trust which aims to increase opportunities for New Zealanders to see locally-made stories, and promote community awareness of film-making culture. "This is a fun opportunity to see how the film-making process works," says producer Andy Jalfon. "What lasts for a few minutes on screen takes a lot longer to put together. We hope people will be keen to see what things look like from the other side of the lens." The filmmakers don't need too many people, so if you're interested get in touch quick through info@number8films.comfor more information. Extras will be required for a few hours on the evening of Sunday 17 October at Galbraith's pub in Mt Eden, Auckland.
