Gaga rallies against USA's Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Tue 21 Sep 2010 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Lady Gaga Pop diva Lady Gaga is stepping up her commitment to helping repeal the US military's hated Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy against gays in the armed services, by fronting a rally today in Portland, Maine. The rally aims to convince the state's two senators to support a bill repealing the policy. The crucial senate vote on the policy is due on Wednesday (NZ time) but gay activists say they currently have insufficient votes to stop Republicans blocking the bill. Gaga's rally is being organised by Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a gay rights group mobilising grassroots support to repeal the controversial policy. The organization also helped her set up a lengthy YouTube video posted late last week urging her fans to call their senators and ask them to support the bill.
