Goulter to debate in drag and pageant crown

Jevan Goulter It's been a number of days since Jevan Goulter made waves in Wanganui with his mayoral campaign, but that's likely to end tonight. He is planning to attend a mayoral debate, hosted by the city council at the War Memorial Hall, in full drag. "Three of the contenders are women. So I thought it would be three women and one real lady," he says. The mayoral candidate was trespassed from the hall a few weeks ago, but says he has been invited to attend and debate tonight. Not only will he be in drag, Goulter will also sport the Miss Teen Wanganui crown which was controversially handed back by its winner after she dyed her hair. Goulter was a spokesman for the pageant. He wants to educate Wanganui that "it shouldn't matter who anybody is, we all have the same voice at the end of the day". Goulter is taking an entourage to the debate, which begins at 7pm, so he "doesn't get beaten up". "I'm expecting a shock reaction," he says.
