Suspicious fire in Family toilets investigated

Mon 13 Sep 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News

10.00 am: Police and Fire Safety are investigating a suspicious fire in the toilets of K' Rd's Family Bar around 12.30am this morning. The blaze started in the walls of the toilets, which lie behind the dancefloor at the rear of the popular Auckland gay club. Toilet paper was stuffed into a hole in the toilet wall, under the cistern, and then set alight. Police say the duty manager at the bar called the Fire Service, but managed to put the flames out with a fire extinguisher. A fire communications spokeswoman says fire fighters immediately deemed the blaze was suspicious when they arrived at the scene and police and Fire Safety were called in to investigate.
