The welcome sign is up The poles are up at Gay Ski Week, with hundreds of snow and party enthusiasts from all over the world converging on Queenstown. Organiser Craig Lawson says people have come from as far as Texas and Edinburgh for the Southern Hemisphere's biggest gay alpine party. The slopes opened today and skiers and snowboarders were treated to an undie run by six men at Snow Park NZ. "It was awesome," says Lawson. A number of people were unable to fly in from Christchurch when they planned due to the earthquake, but the opening party on Saturday night attracted around 300 people, with many more revellers arriving daily and numbers expected to peak as it heads towards closing week. "It's already been so much fun, everyone's having a great time," says Lawson. "We've got guys here who have been four or five times. It's awesome to catch up with people, all the regular faces, it's been really good." Tonight is the long sold out Retro Bowling and Pizza night, which will be repeated tomorrow night for those who missed out. Wednesday night is the DNA Magazine Pool Party, which has sold out. Thursday night features a show by the Topp Twins and karaoke hosted by Miss Ribena. There is also plenty of action on the slopes all week.
