A scene from Lost and Found in Bangkok A short film by gay Wellingtonian Andy Boreham has won second place in an online film festival. Lost and Found in Bangkok took out the runner-up position in the Outrate Online Short Film Festival. The film was originally commissioned and screened on TV2's gay TV show, The Outlook. The judging panel, a mixture of industry professionals and critics from across the world, described Lost and Found in Bangkok as "informative, insightful, provocative and completely engaging", as well as "ethereal, melancholy and a little other-worldly". The film tells the story of Zac, a gay New Zealander who realises he has found himself in Bangkok. Boreham organises a multitude gay events in Wellington and is one half of Aaron and Andy.com. He shot the film on location in Thailand's capital city, as well as in the country's northern city of Chiang Mai. "We couldn't find any go-go bars in Bangkok that would let us film there," he says. "So in the end we found a tiny one in Chiang Mai, picked the boys we wanted, and filmed the scenes on a Sunday morning when the club was closed." "It's great to get recognition for your hard work," says Boreham. "But it's better realising people see what you saw." It was the fourth year of Outrate, an online festival created in Australia which aims to allow up and coming gay film makers to showcase their work to a global audience at no cost and with minimal fuss.
