Jane Lynch Lesbian actress Jane Lynch thanked her wife as she won an Emmy for her role in Glee. Lynch picked up Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for her role as the hilariously acerbic Sue Sylvester. “Thank you so much, this is outlandish”, she said after accepting the award. She then went on to thank her wife, Lara Embry. “My god, my heart is pounding, I have nine seconds. And I thank my daughter Hayden and my wife Laura.” Lynch and Embry were married in Massachusetts in May. Glee director Ryan Murphy picked up Outstanding Directing For A Comedy. Eric Stonestreet Eric Stonestreet won Outstanding supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the role of gay dad Cameron Tucker in Modern Family. He beat his on-screen husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson for the award, but says there was no tension. "This win is a win for our show," he said. "We're proud of our show and we just love our jobs, so it won't be awkward at all." Stonestreet says he will give the Emmy to his parents – he based the character on his mother. Modern Family beat Glee to win Outstanding Comedy Series, while Mad Men won Outstanding Drama Series over gay viewer favourite True Blood.
