The organisers of Auckland Fringe are seeking diverse acts for their 2011 festival, calling for anything that "doesn't break any laws and can be considered art". Registrations are now open, with performers and visual artists invited to sign up for the completely open access programme. Fringe debuted in 2009 and included 75 shows performed by 900 artists, in over 30 locations. Organisers say the 2011 season is looking to surpass those figures and present an even more diverse and varied programme. The 2009 Fringe saw included everything from a laser light show on Lion Rock and a murder tour through Myers Park to dancers in rush hour traffic. "In essence, Auckland Fringe is a platform where anything goes, and usually does," the team behind the event says. They are hoping to see the envelope pushed even further, saying performers from across the spectrum have two months to stake their claim for next year's festival. Artist registrations close on the 15th October 2010.
