Richard O'Brien After supporting his battle to become a New Zealand citizen, fans of Rocky Horror creator Richard O'Brien are to get something of a reward. O'Brien will play the narrator in the timeless musical when it comes to the stage in Auckland in November. The British-born performer and writer spent much of his youth in New Zealand and has his heart set on retiring here, on a property he owns in Katikati. Associate Immigration Minister Kate Wilkinson has pledged to make an exception to the usual criteria to allow him to become a resident, which he hopes will pave the way for citizenship. The two weeks of Auckland shows will be the first time O'Brien, who played the butler Riff Raff in the film, has appeared onstage in The Rocky Horror Show musical for many years. Producer Tim Lawson says it's a coup to have him for the tour. "He's as big a cult hero as the show itself. It's going to be huge. It's the most fun Auckland will see in some time. Come out of your sedation, dust off your fishnets and let's get thrusting." The Rocky Horror Show will feature an international touring cast and live band. It will open at Auckland's Civic on November 9.Tickets will go on sale on Monday, August 16 at 9am from The Edge
