Candidate blasted for gay slur

Wendy Francis A Senate candidate for Australia's Family First party has been slammed by Twitter users after comparing legitimising gay marriage to "legalising child abuse" "Children in homosexual relationships are subject to emotional abuse. Legitimising gay marriage is like legalising child abuse," Wendy Francis said in a twitter message which has since been deleted, the Sydney Morning Herald reports. The statement also appeared on her website, but was also deleted last night. She was 'blasted' by thousands of Twitter users for the comments, with one saying her claims were 'baseless and astounding'. The Sydney Morning Herald has requested comment from Francis and is waiting for her to reply.
