Teen charged with murdering police officer

3.50pm: A teenager has been charged with the murder of a south Auckland police officer, however police will not say whether there is a sexual element to the case or reveal any circumstances of the killing. The body of 59-year-old Denis Norman Phillips was found in his Papakura home yesterday afternoon. He is believed to have been stabbed to death yesterday morning. A 16-year-old boy has been charged with his murder and is due to appear in the Papakura Youth court tomorrow. Phillips had worked with the Counties-Manukau police for the past twelve years and was a temporary sworn officer before his death. GayNZ.com will have more on this story as it develops.
