Susan Blick OUTLine's Community Development Officer Susan Blick is leaving the Auckland-based phone support organisation, as she is moving on to full time employment. Blick joined OUTLine in March and she says her tenure has been invaluable in establishing many new and valued relationships within the GLBT community in Auckland. “I am really pleased to have been able to initiate some great new projects and even though I am moving on from a paid capacity I remain committed to seeing that OUTLine continues to grow and develop,” she says. “There is one project that I am working on at the moment involving greater integration with other GLBT organisations which I am very excited about and I will be following that through to its inaugural event at the end of August.” The Australian says after coming to New Zealand with her partner while she completes her PhD at AUT, the opportunity to have been involved with OUTLine has been fantastic. OUTLine Chair Peter Martin is praising the work Blick has done, including the very successful launch of the Asia Pacific OutGames at the Hilton in May. “We have really valued her enthusiasm and commitment to the community. It has been great to have her fresh eyes and energies and Susan has made a positive contribution to the broader community work that OUTLine is undertaking,” he says. “We wish her all the best with her future and although it is sad that she is moving on from her paid position we are looking forward to having her as one of our volunteers.” Martin says the OUTLine board anticipates placing an ad for new staff within the next month. “Whether that will be as a direct replacement for the Community Development Officer or a revised job description, is yet to be determined,” he says. OUTLine has moved to its new Ponsonby premises and Martin says with change comes opportunity.
