Rainbow 'tweens' sought to front TV show

Wed 21 Jul 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News

The creators of a kids' TV show are looking for confident 'tweens' from Rainbow families to present a special episode. Greenstone Pictures is currently producing the third series ofin beTWEEN, a programme for the 9-14 age-group, which screens on TVNZ6. It is is planning an episode about rainbow families and is looking for Auckland-based tweens with same-sex parents to front it. Researcher Kathryn McMillan says the programme aims to provide good, clear and accessible information that young people can really use – in this case reinforcing the message that families come in all shapes and sizes. "Maybe you are a tween who grew up in a Rainbow Family or maybe one of your parents came out after you were born - whatever your story we're hoping to hear from tweens who are keen to encourage acceptance of all family types," she says. "You don't need to have any acting experience, just enthusiasm and a sparkling personality." McMillan says tweens particularly love presenting the Beginner's Guides, which are colourful, fun, scripted segments, because they offer a rare chance to work with a professional crew. Any interested tweens or their families should call Kathryn on 09 6237754 or email k.mcmillan@gspictures.co.nz
