Trans support group GenderBridge is joining OUTLine in temporary offices at the New Zealand Aids Foundation, after both were displaced from their downtown Auckland premises. The organisations were given less than a week's notice to move out of OUTLine's longtime space in a building on downtown Auckland's Anzac Ave. The shift is due to the closure of the Lawrence Publishing businesses on the premises. The company was the head lease holder in the building. NZAF is accommodating OUTLine at its Auckland headquarters in Ponsonby, until the phone counseling service finds a permanent home. It is also hosting GenderBridge. GenderBridge chair Jaimie Veale says the closure of the other businesses in the building came as a surprise, but the trans-support group will join OUTLine in operating from the temporary offices kindly provided by the NZAF until new premises can be found. "We're very grateful to NZAF for helping us out. It's great to see the community support for both GenderBridge and OUTline. It's great to have friends," she says. Veale says she hopes both organisations will have new premises before long. The regularly GenderBridge monthly meeting next Tuesday will be held in a meeting room at NZAF, which is at 31-35 Hargreaves St, Ponsonby. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.
