Get ready for some serious popcorn munching ... the Auckland leg of Out Takes: A Reel Queer Film Festival has opened at Newmarket's Rialto Cinemas. Aside from the films, there are also events after the movies every night of the festival. Organisers say they have put together a 'fantastically varied' programme – and it's now up to the community to ensure it they can continue the fine tradition of Out Takes by buying tickets to plenty of movies. Here's a guide to the first few days of the Auckland festival, wrapping up the not to be missed movies and events. Eating Out: all You can Eat 8:30pm - Eating Out: All You Can Eat Bawdy, hysterical, and chock-full of eye candy, this third Eating Out is another guilty pleasure. After the Movies... Searching Athens for his lost son, he meets Strella, a young transsexual. 8:30pm - Hannah Free Sharon Gless stars in a film about the lifelong love affair between an independent spirit and the woman she calls home.
