A longtime senior Taranaki council officer has been fined and ordered to pay reparations, after hand-delivering gay porn magazines and abusive notes to a colleague's house. TheTaranaki Daily News reports 44-year-old Hawera man Graham Young, resigned as South Taranaki District Council's corporate services group manager the day after he was arrested earlier this month on charges of breaching the Postal Act and criminal harassment. Young admitted the charges in the Hawera District Court and was fined $1,500, plus court costs and ordered to pay $2,000 reparation for emotional harm. According to prosecutors, between March 31 and April 15, pornographic gay magazines were sent through the post and some were hand-delivered to a co-worker's house. They say Young also sent the victim's wife a letter from words cut out of a newspaper, and planted gay porn and DVDs of bestiality in the man's work drawer. His defence says the actions came after a close relationship Young had with a female work colleague ended and he became jealous when he thought he observed a relationship between her and the victim. The report says Young handed the judge letters of apology for the victim and his wife, and the council.
