Tickets are almost sold out to the opening night of the Out Takes 2010: A Reel Queer Film Festival in Auckland. The event is being held at the Rialto Cinemas in Newmarket, with An Englishman in New York the film for men and And Then Came Lola for women. The bar at Rialto opens at 7pm, while the movies start screening at 8.30pm. Out Takes runs in Auckland until June 2, while Wellington’s opening night will be held on June 3 at the Paramount. The festival programmes have been circulated in gay venues, with features of the 2010 programme including the New Zealand gay short film Communication, which has just been honoured as Outstanding Short Film in the 2010 Qbliss Creating Change Community Awards in the USA. Each night of the festival in Auckland also has an event that will be run after the films, including “We’re going to have some very special visitors at the closing night We Are The Mods screening in Auckland,” says organiser Lil Cameron. “Make sure you head along to The Lumsden after the screening to gawp at them.”
