Glbt elders and youth to compare life stories

Tue 18 May 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Glbt community youth and elders are being invited to share their life stories and compare experiences at a function at Auckland's Charlotte Museum. The Museum and Rainbow Youth are holding the event this Sunday May 23rd as part of Youth Week. Jenny Rankine, who is now employed part time by the Museum, says likely topics for discussion will include coming out, finding someone, being out at work and making families. "Often the two generations don't understand what life is like for each other... they often talk about each other but not to each other," says Rankine. "This is an opportunity to compare how we are different and how we are similar." The two to three-hour long discussion will start at 2pm and will be held at the Museum's new premises at 7a/43a Linwood Avenue, just off St Luke's Road in Mt Albert.
