Friend charged with gay Scottish teen's murder

Jack Frew A friend of a gay Scottish teenager has been charged with his murder. Jack Frew, 16, was found dead near a cycle path in Mossneuk, East Kilbride, last week. His throat had been cut. Seventeen-year-old Craig Roy has been charged with his murder. He was arrested in hospital, where he was taken after being found injured at the scene of the killing. Pink News says police have released few details of Frew's death, refusing to reveal details of the post mortem. It says Frew was openly gay and known for his love of acting and singing. A friend speculated he may have been killed because of his sexuality but police have not discussed a possible motive. Headteacher at Duncarig Secondary School George Wynne told Pink News he was popular and respected, adding: "He is a great loss to our school community. We grieve for him and his family who are in our thoughts as they come to terms with the loss of their son and brother."
