A West Coast skinhead has been jailed for murdering a Korean tourist, joining his gay-killer conspirator behind bars. Shannon Flewellen has been sentenced to life in prison at the High Court in Christchurch, with a minimum non-parole period of 16 years and three months. In 2003 he, along with another self-confessed white supremacist, Hayden McKenzie, murdered Korean backpacker Jae Hyeon Kim . The 25-year-old tourist was choked by Flewellen while McKenzie held down his arms, in what Justice John Fogarty today labelled a "racist killing". They later stomped on his head and throat to ensure he was dead. Kim's remains were found in 2008 McKenzie is already serving 25 years for Kim's murder, as well as the murder of gay man James 'Janis' Bambrough in 1999. Bambrough, described as a gay cross-dresser who lived a transient lifestyle, went missing after a party in Westport in late 1999. His body was not found until September 2004. He had been choked and drowned in the Buller River. A White supremacist website named Flewellen Kiwi of the week when he admitted the killing of the Korean tourist last month.
