Wed 21 Apr 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Josh Burrows Mr Australia and New Zealand Leatherman title-holder Josh Burrows is coming to Auckland next month to launch the Brookes Trust in NZ. The Brookes Trust was recently set up to promote positive leather lifestyle in the gay community in Australia and New Zealand. It is named after Patrick Brookes, the only Australasian to win the International Mr Leather (IML) title back in 1980. The aim of the non-for-profit trust is to fundraise and help foster improved relations within the leather communities of the two countries. Burrows, from Melbourne, won the Leatherman title last year, which earned him a place in the IML competition in Chicago in May. Auckland's Urge Bar will be hosting Burrows on Friday May 7 where a limited number of Embossed Leather Belt Clips will be sold on the night. Some leather gear will also be auctioned off in aid of Body Positive. Later this year a Mr New Zealand Leather competition will be held at Urge with the winner representing Aotearoa in the Australasia competition in Melbourne in October.
