Legal recognition of gay marriage has been rejected by Italy's Constitutional Court. AFP reports the court has ruled arguments in favour of gay marriage were either "unfounded" or "inadmissible." Its opinion was sought by courts in Venice and Trento after gay rights groups questioned whether the bar to same-sex marriage was a violation of human rights enshrined in the constitution. A group advocating gay marriage says it will continue the fight, "until the full equality of homosexuals is recognised in civil marriage law." The Italian Forum of Family Associations says the court has "chosen in favour of the good of society."
