An evening of show-stopping showtunes looks set to become a regular part of the Auckland glbt entertainment with the announcement that an Open Mic Nite trialled at Dots Bar is to continue on a monthly basis. Terance Penk accompanies the singers on the first Open Mic Night “The music ranges from the good old classic tunes to more recent show songs all accompanied live by a piano,” says Dot's manager Rodney Coleman. The MC for this Sunday evening will be Melissa Nordaus who plays Annie Crummer's character's love interest in the upcoming rock musical Rent. Nordhaus will be supported by several of the other stars of the production. The Auckland Music Theatre will hold its second Open Mic Nite from 7 to 10pm on Sunday 11th April at Dot’s Bar on the Newton Rd - Khyber Pass corner. Other special feature nights coming up at Dot's include a Black and White party on Saturday April 17, an art exhibition including mosaics and carvings from April 20th, Bear Bingo on Thursday 22nd. In May a Jazz Night is scheduled for Tuesday May 12 and a Bollywood party on Saturday 15th
