Kiwi director nails Feminist Porn Awards nods

Fri 26 Mar 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at NDHA

Two films by New Zealand's first female porn producer have been selected for the Toronto Feminist Porn Awards. They are John, which is Glitter Films' first foray into 'guy love' and a heterosexual collection entitled Triple X Vignettes. Astrid Glitter says she is "super excited" and it is wonderful to be considered on a par with other top adult film producers. Her work has also been selected for the Berlin Porn Festival. Glitter Films, founded in Auckland in 2005, is described as an art house for adult film which advocates for safe sex. Organisers of the Feminist Porn Awards say they seek to showcase and honour those who are creating erotic media with a feminist sensibility. The FPA says its nominees "provide erotic entertainment that is smart, sexy, and continues to appreciate women as viewers”. It believes erotic fantasy is powerful and women and marginalised communities deserve to put their dreams and desires on film too. The awards are handed out on April 9.
