A blonde, single, white, Lady Gaga-worshipping gay filmmaker from Wellington is battling to become Stuff.co.nz's newest regular blogger. Blogging battler: Chaz Harris Chaz Harris has been blogging daily for the past two weeks as part of the website's Blog Idol promotion, where readers vote for their favourite bloggers to continue via page view counts and through leaving comments. The promotion started with ten bloggers and is now down to three hopefuls. Topics tackled by Harris so far include celebrity outings, women who wear clothes which are too young for them, the usefulness of a gay best friend to a straight girl, safe sex, porn and dressing in drag. He's even blogged about how his father's death impacted on his life and work. "I was bullied and called gay at school for years and as a result I have never associated it with the word 'pride'," Harris typed in a candid blog entry last week about being gay. "When I realised it was the truth, I ended up thinking the torment had made me that way. However, as you get older you realise people don't have that kind of power over you and it was just something you are, whether you like it or not."
