Wed 3 Mar 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The year-long countdown to the 2011 AsiaPacific Outgames in Wellington will begin next Friday with a special event at the Mark Hutchins Gallery in Wellington. "This will be the first big event where organisers, volunteers and supporters will all get together," Co-chair David Hindley told GayNZ.com. "It marks one year out from the launch of the Outgames themselves, and it is a very exciting milestone for us." The Outgames will be held in Wellington on 12-19 March 2011. Over 2,000 participants and supporters will come from throughout New Zealand, Australia, Asia and across the Pacific to compete in 16 sports, to attend a major human rights conference, and to enjoy a host of arts and cultural events. The One Year Out event on Friday 12 March is being held at Mark Hutchins Gallery, 216a Willis Street, Wellington, where an exhibition will include the work from gay and lesbian artists. The evening starts with refreshments at 6pm. Anyone interested in the Outgames is welcome at the One Year Out event. There is no entry cost, but those attending are asked to RSVP to wellington2011@inbox.com.
