Veteran Kiwi broadcaster Pauil Holmes is set to appear on TV soap Shortland Street in full Edwardian drag as Lady Bracknell in a Shorty rendition of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. Dragtastic: Paul Holmes as Lady Bracknell The NZ Herald reports that episodes recently filmed for screening in April show Holmes taking on the role of an arrogant amatuer actor who does a star turn as the matriarch in the renowned 19th century play brought to life by the Shortland Street cast. "Beyond the novelty of Holmes in a dress, this is a fantastic performance from a very talented actor," says the show's producer Steven Zanoski. Holmes himself seemed unfazed by his elaborate garb as the cameras rolled. "It's a costume. I didn't mind that at all."
