Wed 10 Feb 2010 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The media-shy Auckland man who won a million-dollar home with a $25 raffle ticket says he's still getting over the shock of seeing himself on TV and in the newspapers. Big win: Warwick Hutchinson Warwick Hutchinson was one of 48,000 entrants into the draw to win the lakeside property in Karapiro - which was given away by the minister of Bridges Church in Cambridge. Hutchinson, who worked for a time as chartered accountant for Express newspaper, tells GayNZ.com he's very reluctant to talk to media, but accepts there's interest in his identity and plans. "I've had TV crews parked outside my door, it's been a bit stressful," he says, adding that he's never won anything in his life before. The five-bedroom house includes two self-contained guest units, a cedar conservatory and gorgeous views of the lake. The raffle made $1,226,422 for the church - over $200k more than the property's market value of $1 million. The funds will be used to construct a new church and community centre.
