Air NZ 'drag queen' outfits "hideous" says fashionista

Trelise Cooper's 'candyfloss pink' women's flight attendant uniform design is "hideous" says a trusted gay fashion critic. A range of Cooper's concepts for Air New Zealand's in-flight uniforms were leaked to media this weekend, with one of the airline's staff members telling The Dominion Post the womens' pink and black outfit made them "look like drag queens off the pink flight" to Sydney Mardi Gras each March. New Zealand's gay southernmost fashion journalist Craig Lawson sums up the leaked designs as 'hideous'. "I've been a Trelise Cooper fan for quite some time, but these designs are a mistake," he tells GayNZ.com. "She's trying to be clever and use the staff as bright beacons for Air NZ at international airports... but who wants to stare at that floral design for twelve hours on a long haul flight? Imagine it after coffee's spilled on it!" As for the male look, Lawson says it doesn't bring about any cohesion between the sexes. "The genders don't match or complement each other. The male uniform is boring, and the waistcoat is just bad," he argues. "I don't know why Trelise would want to design uniforms anyway, it's clearly not what she's good at." Rumours are now surfacing that Air NZ's new fleet of planes will feature black and pink interiors. Lawson has doubts: "They can't do that. Hmm, maybe they're trying to attract the 'pink dollar'!" Trelise Cooper's final design for Air NZ's uniforms will be revealed in a few months' time.
