A generous gay Aucklander says he's pleased to donate $500 to HIV+ people's support service Body Positive to help them during its cash crunch. "Body Positive is another one of those important services which is in jeopardy as funding levels are low," TV producer Glenn Sims, who was a key member of the team behind OUTLine October campaign, explains. "We will only realise the impact they have when they've gone, when it's too late. They need our support now." Body Positive Auckland's chief executive Bruce Kilmister confirmed last month that he had not drawn a salary for six months due to shortfalls from funding bodies which have in turn been hit by the economic recession. The organisation had to let go several part time staffers earlier last year, amid fears it may no longer have adequate resources available to provide sufficient medical and other backup for HIV positive people facing financial and health issues. Details of how to donate money, including by internet banking, are available on the Body Positive website.
