It's Top Model fever as Tyra hits Auckland

Mon 7 Dec 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

Tyra Banks and her fashionista crew have now all arrived and are filming new episodes of America's Next Top Model around Auckland - but they're alluding fevered fans keen to snap pics of the star and her entourage. Jay Manuel gets a Kiwi welcome at Auckland Airport (pic: Isacc Likes blog) GayNZ.com has had numerous tip-offs from readers updating us on the Top Model crew's whereabouts over the last few days. Tyra's 'Queen of the Catwalk' friend Miss Jay Alexander arrived at Auckland airport last Thursday, then Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker entered the city on Friday. Tyra herself somehow slipped in over the weekend, seemingly without any potential paparazzi noticing. Attempts by some fans to snap pictures of the Top Model crew have proved unsuccessful so far. As a reader called Jude who tackled Mount Eden on Friday to photograph them told us: ""Just raced up the mountain where the girls were being filmed in the old tea rooms, tight, tight security. Got told off for whipping out my iPhone so no photos I'm afraid." Other readers report that Tyra was filming on a beach in Auckland's Herne Bay this afternoon. The crew are thought to be in New Zealand for two weeks, and will also film segments in Queenstown. Fashion gossiper Isaac Hindin Miller's blog has been the one to watch during Tyra's visit so far - his daily updates have included pictures of the Top Model crew arriving at the Auckland Airport at the sleepy time of 5am. "I just get a real adrenaline rush when I meet a celebrity," he tells GayNZ.com. "It's been exciting, but frustrating that we haven't seen Tyra yet." We asked Miller what he'd say to Tyra if he eventually met her. He laughed: "I'd ask for a photo!" If you spot Tyra or her crew in New Zealand this week, send your story/photos to gaynz@woosh.co.nz.
