The Californian sports writer who made headlines around the world in 2007, when he revealed he planned to live the rest of his life as a woman, has been found dead. Talented writer: Mike Penner The Los Angeles Times believes Mike Penner took his own life, and journalists who knew him have paid tribute to the "smart, incisive" writer. Penner, 52, told his readers two years ago that he would become a woman called Christine Daniels, and began taking hormones. He blogged several times about his transgender experiences. But several months later he took leave of absence from work, then returned as 'Mike' last year. He was found dead in his Californian home on Saturday night.
