NZAF board now focussing on strategic matters

Sat 28 Nov 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

The NZ AIDS Foundation board has begun to focus on strategic matters, having put the recent round of re-building the organisation's governance and trust deed structure behind it, according to its outgoing Chair. Only eleven of the Foundation's 300 members attended this afternoon's Annual General Meeting, which was all over after less than half an hour and lacked the controversy and verbal fireworks of recent AGMs. There were no remits put to the meeting which consisted largely of the Chair's report, housekeeping matters, announcement of new Trust Board members and formal thanks to retiring members. Retiring Chair Mark Henrickson said the NZAF is "strong, active and financially sound" and has completed the second part of the purchase of its headquarters building in central Auckland. Henrickson, who has been chair for 18 months, says the Foundation has instituted a commitment to working with Maori "which sets the standard for the organisation as a whole." He says an announcement regarding the process for formulating the NZAF's 2010-2015 strategic plan can be expected early in the new year. Postal voting by 52 Foundation members saw Andrew Sweet elected onto the trust board and Hamish Allardice re-elected. Henrickson had served for four years and Peter Browne has retired after two years. Accountant Richard James is also stepping down. Two more board members will be appointed after applications close at 5pm this Monday evening. Alistair Cameron will be pro-tem chair until the new board meets in February. Currently the NZAF Board Trust board members are: Andrew Sweet, Alastair Cameron, Paul Bohmer, Mark Henrickson (retiring in February), Richard James and Mike Roguski
