Auckland's new LGBT Festival next February will run for two weeks with the Get it On! Big Gay Out as its centerpiece on Sunday 14 February, say its organisers. OurFest's organising group has this week announced the festival is registered as a charitable trust, with the premiere OurFest scheduled for 5 to 19 February 2010. "Now that we're registered as a trust it's going to be some hard work over the next couple of months to put the final touches on planning and preparation to make OurFest the success Auckland deserves," says OurFest's Kent Phillips. The OurFest crew is still looking for events to add to the festival's calendar. "We're looking for exciting and different events where Aucklanders can showcase their diversityand involve as much of the community as possible," explains Phillips. Interested event organisers or sponsors can email glbtfestival2010@xtra.co.nz by Monday 14 December. OurFest 2010 will include a black-tie LGBT community awards night, and is timed to take place to coincide with the Atlantis Cruiseline ship's visit to Auckland, carrying around 1,400 gay men on board.
